RUSK COUNTY, WI-- A criminal complaint listing 31 charges was filed today in Rusk County Circuit Court against the suspect in the shooting death of Rusk County Sheriff Deputy Dan Glaze, Jr., originally from Birchwood, Wisconsin.
According to the criminal complaint, the suspect in the October 2016 shooting is Doug S. Nitek, 44, of Conrath, Wisconsin, who is currently being held at the Dodge Correctional Institution located in Waupan.
Deputy Glaze was shot and killed in the line of duty after he responded to a call involving a suspicious vehicle parked in a field south of Ladysmith.
The charges include First-Degree Intentional Homicide while Armed with a Dangerous Weapon. Also listed in the criminal complaint are additional charges of Attempted Homicide after the suspect allegedly fired on backup law enforcement officers, who were called to the scene after Deputy Glaze could not be reached by dispatch personnel.
