Alcohol Believed to be Factor in Single Vehicle Crash in Barron County

On Saturday, April 8th, 2017, at 4:01 a.m., the Barron County Sheriff's Department received a call of a one vehicle crash on 1st Avenue and 28th Street, New Auburn.

The Barron County Sheriff's Department along with Chetek EMS, New Auburn Fire, New Auburn First Responders and Lifelink Helicopter responded to the crash.

Initial investigation shows a vehicle traveling west bound on 1st Avenue when the operator struck the US Hwy 53 overpass cement pillars causing the vehicle to come to a stop in some trees. The driver, Maxwell Super, 26 of New Auburn, was extricated from the vehicle and flown out by Lifelink helicopter with serious injuries.

Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor and is the 2nd alcohol related crash of the weekend. This crash remains under investigation by the Barron County Sheriff's Department.

Please remember to not drink and drive and do not allow others you know to get behind the wheel after drinking. These types of incidents are preventable.
