Chairman Wins in LCO Primary Election by One Vote; Two Other Incumbents Defeated

Two incumbent council members failed to advance in the LCO Primary Election and Chairman Mic Isham placed in the top six by one vote. The two incumbents who were defeated are LCO Vice Chairman Rusty Barber and Secretary-Treasurer Norma Ross.

Six candidates advanced to the General Election on June 17. There are three open seats up for re-election. The top six advancing are Tweed Shuman with 221 votes, Louis Taylor, 208, Don Carley, 200, Gary “Little Guy” Clause, 163, Deanna Baker, 138 and Mic Isham at 132.

Rusty Barber received 114 votes and Norma Ross received 81.

Coming just short of the final six were Randy Cadotte, 131 and David Bisonette, 128.

The LCO Election ordinance provides a recount procedure that allows any candidate to request a recount within three days of the election. The Election Committee then has three days from the time of the request to do a recount. The committee then votes to determine whether they certify the original count or the new count.

It is unclear at this time whether a recount will be requested. There was only one vote between Cadotte and Isham for the sixth spot, and Bisonette was only four votes behind Isham.

The other vote totals were as follows; Ron Gokey, 115, Curtis Decora, 110,  Lynette Tribble, 95, Mary Wolf 86, Jeff Tribble, 81, Susan Aasen, 78, Patrick Martinson, 74, Jason Martin Sr, 64, Anona Laronge, 60, Daryl Coons Sr, 50, Gary Girard, 33 and Jon Klecan, 9.

Jack Hamilton received 48 write in votes and Lori Taguma received 9.
