Law enforcement was advised that Adam Barnett, age 42, of Conrath, WI, had sexually assaulted a child under the age of 13 on multiple occasions with the most recent assault occurring on February 13, 2022.

A sexual assault medical examination and a forensic interview were conducted with the child. The criminal complaint filed against Barnett states that information about the alleged sexual assaults collected by law enforcement during the investigation was corroborated by the medical exam and the forensic interview.

The criminal complaint contains details from the forensic interview, however, DrydenWire has chosen to not include those details due to the graphic descriptions.

Barnett was interviewed at the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office regarding the alleged sexual assault. He acknowledged having contact with the child, according to the criminal complaint, but denied sexually assaulting the child or having any sexual contact with the child, stating: “Maybe I'm a huge creep and I don't know how to handle children and they think it's creepy."

Charges of Class B Felony 1st Degree Child Sexual Assault - Sexual Contact With a Child Under Age 13 have been filed against Barnett, with a sentencing enhancer for a requirement of lifetime supervision for serious sex offenders attached.

Online circuit court records show that Barnett appeared in Rusk County Circuit Court for a bail bond hearing on March 1, 2022, and District Attorney Barna requested a $10,000.00 cash bond. The Hon. Steven Anderson ordered a $10,000 cash bond, with conditions prohibiting Barnett from having any contact with minors or going within 500 feet of any school.

Barnett appeared most recently on March 8, 2022, and requested that the Court modify his bond. A Bond Modification hearing has been scheduled for Barnett in April 2022.
