SUPERIOR, Wis. -- At 11:06am on Friday, October 5, Superior Police officers were dispatched to investigate a theft at a business on Belknap St. Officers located the suspect, a 19-year old white male, about a half-mile away in the Central Park neighborhood.
A confrontation occurred after officers located the suspect. The man was shot multiple times by the officers.
The officers immediately began lifesaving measures on the man until Superior Fire Department and Gold Cross Ambulance paramedics arrived. The man was transported to a Duluth hospital by Gold Cross Ambulance. The man was conscious when he was transported from the scene.
None of the police officers were injured.
The WI Department of Justice, Division of Criminal Investigation, Special Investigations Bureau, was contacted and is investigating this incident.
As required by department policy, the officers have been placed on Administrative Leave.
The name of the suspect and the names of the officers involved in this incident are not being released at this time.
