2 Sex Offenders to be Released in Polk County

Two sex offenders are scheduled to be released this month in Polk County. The Polk County Sheriff's Office issued notices regarding the release on April 18, 2017, of Zackery Tohm, convicted of Child Sexploitation-Produce, Perform, Etc. (by Person Under 18 Years of Age) and Possession of Child Pornography; and the notice of Michael Horton on April 25, 2017, convicted of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child.

MICHAEL HORTON -- In accordance with Wisconsin State Statute 301.46(2m), it has been determined that the following information regarding Michael Horton should be released to the local media. Mr. Horton will be released to the community on 04/25/17. Mr. Horton will be residing at the Apple River Motel, located at 977 US HWY 8, Amery, WI 54001, and will be under the supervision of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

In 2009, Mr. Horton was convicted of 2nd Degree Sexual Assault of a Child. Mr. Horton will be placed on intensive supervision for a period of time and he will be on Extended Supervision for approximately 12 years. Mr. Horton is required to register with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program for life. The Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry can be located at www.widocoffenders.org.

ZACKERY TOHM - In accordance with Wisconsin State Statute 301.46(2m), it has been determined that the following information regarding Zackery Tohm should be released to the local media. Mr. Tohm will be released to the community on 04/18/17. Mr. Tohm will be residing at 1503 150th Avenue, Balsam Lake, WI 54810, and will be under the supervision of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections.

In 2014, Mr. Tohm was convicted of Child Sexploitation-Produce, Perform, etc. (by Person Under 18 Years of Age) and Possession of Child Pornography. Mr. Tohm will be placed on intensive supervision for a period of time and he will be on Extended Supervision for approximately seven (7) years. Mr. Tohm is required to register with the Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry Program for life. The Wisconsin Sex Offender Registry can be located at www.widocoffenders.org.

Sex offenders have always lived in our communities; but it wasn’t until Act 440 in 1997 which enabled law enforcement to share this information with the community. This notification is not intended to increase fear; rather, it is our belief that an informed public is a safer public.
