BARRON COUNTY -- The Hon. J.M. Bitney has ordered a $10,000 signature bond for 20-year-old Jacob Nordeng of Barron, WI, regarding multiple sexual assault charges including sexual assault of a child and sexual assault of an intoxicated victim.
Multiple criminal charges have been filed in Barron County Circuit Court against 20-year-old Jacob Nordeng, of Barron, WI, for multiple sexual assault offenses.
One criminal complaint alleges that Nordeng was 19 years old at the time of the sexual assaults of the child and the child was age 13. A second criminal complaint filed alleges that Nordeng committed sexual assault against another victim who was intoxicated at the time of the assault.
One criminal complaint filed against Nordeng alleges that law enforcement received a report that Nordeng became connected with a person born in 2008 via social media. Nordeng made arrangements to meet with the juvenile on multiple occasions throughout July and October 2021; picking the juvenile up while driving his Dodge pickup truck.
The criminal complaint states that Nordeng engaged in sexual activity with the juvenile while in his pickup truck as well as at Nordeng’s residence. Nordeng told investigators that initially, he did not “hang out” with the juvenile because he was aware of her age, however, he allegedly admitted to multiple sexual encounters with the juvenile, stating that there was no force involved in the encounters.
Nordeng is charged with two counts of Class C Felony Sexual Assault of a Child Under the Age of 16 Years of Age.
Another criminal complaint filed against Nordeng states that he allegedly admitted to “hanging out” with the victim on the alleged incident date in December 2020 at an apartment located in the City of Cumberland, WI. The criminal complaint states that the alleged victim told law enforcement that due to alcohol consumption the victim was feeling unwell and went to rest in a bedroom area of the apartment. According to the criminal complaint, Nordeng asked the alleged victim if they wanted to engage in sexual activity and was told no, multiple times.
Law enforcement received statements from other witnesses who were allegedly at the apartment. These witnesses stated to law enforcement that they witnessed Nordeng engaging in sexual activity with the alleged victim while the victim was in a state of intoxication rendering the victim unable to communicate clearly. The witnesses told law enforcement that they told Nordeng to stop what he was doing.
The criminal complaint states that when questioned by law enforcement Nordeng said that the alleged victim was ill from intoxication at the of the alleged assaults, but that the victim insisted on engaging in sexual activity with Nordeng.
Nordeng is charged with Class C Felony Sexual Assault of an Intoxicated Person.
Online circuit court records show that Nordeng appeared for a hearing on February 16, 2022, in Barron County Circuit Court regarding all the charges filed against him. The Hon. J.M. Bitney ordered a $10,000 signature bond for Nordeng to cover both of the criminal cases filed against Nordeng. Conditions of bond prohibit Nordeng from having contact with the victims of the cases filed against him as well as prohibiting him from having any contact with minor females, outside of immediate family.
Nordeng is scheduled to appear again in March 2022 for initial appearance hearings regarding all the charges filed against him.
