Editor’s Note: Each day at noon from January 2nd through January 6th, we will be sharing our numbers spotlighting one area of our business in our 2019 By The Numbers: DrydenWire Year In Review series.

Today, in the first area of our business, we are shining a spotlight on our video interviews. In 2019 we had two parts to this: DrydenWire Live! and Diane’s Kitchen.

DrydenWire Live!

DrydenWire Live! first launched in 2018 and was originally called “The Bat & Men Show.” I, along with my brother Matt Dryden, would do remote interviews (I would be in our studio, Matt would be at his house, and our guests would appear from wherever they were). After running into numerous technical issues on our guests' end - and Matt unable to continue as co-host due to his busy schedule - in 2019 the decision was made to rename these live interview chats to DrydenWire Live!. My father, Terry Dryden, who had just retired as Sheriff of Washburn County after 28 years, agreed to co-host the show.

When it came to our guests (and knowing Diane’s Kitchen was about to go live in the summer and what type of guests would be on - more on that below), we made the decision to have guests that would fall into 1 of our 3 main categories that people read on our website: Crime & Court, Incidents & Alerts, and Politics & Government.

  • Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald (x3)
  • Burnett County Sheriff Tracy Finch

Diane’s Kitchen

Diane Dryden, the host of Diane’s Kitchen, has been a features writer for DrydenWire.com since our launch in 2015. Diane, my mother, is a published author of three novels and a former writer for the Washburn County Register, amongst other publications. Aside from the 3 main categories we mentioned above, every article Diane - which are largely human interest-based - has been hugely popular. In 2019, we made the decision to launch Diane’s Kitchen to essentially be a video version of what she would have previously written on or about. Unlike DrydenWire Live!, which has guests from a multi-county area, guests on Diane’s Kitchen are typically from the Shell Lake and Spooner area and are human-interest focused.

Fun Fact: 30 years ago, Diane owned a restaurant in Shell Lake called Diane’s Kitchen.
