This week's '21 Things You Might Not Know About Me' features Barron County Sheriff Chris Fitzgerald.
- I have wanted to be a cop since I was 5.
- I serve on lots of non-profits across the county - 14 of them.
- My wife Holly is a social worker - different perceptive on life and we make a great team.
- I have 2 kids: Emma 15, Jace 12.
- I coach - when I can - my kids' soccer, basketball, and hockey.
- I have lived in Rice Lake all my life.
- I have been on National TV due to the recent tornado in Chetek.
- I have attended the National FBI Academy in Quantico Virginia for 11 weeks.
- I like to play video games.
- I don’t drink coffee but I do drink plenty of Mt Dew.
- I like donuts; a lot.
- Hot Dogs from Street Vendors are the best - had them both in Chicago and NY City.
- I played college basketball at UW Barron County.
- I love to watch sports on TV.
- My dad worked at the Sheriff’s Dept for 33 year part time and retired after I became the Sheriff (probably why I got into the field).
- I have a great team at the Sheriff’s Department that make me look good.
- Same goes for home - great team of support
- I and another officer at Rice Lake Police Department started the first Bicycle Patrol Unit in Rice Lake.
- The second best job other than Sheriff was being a School Liaison Officer for the Rice Lake School District.
- While going to school I worked for 4 different police departments part time.
- I love being your Sheriff. It is the best job in the world!
