21 Things You Might Not Know About Me: Helen Perotti

21 Things You Might Not Know About Me: Helen Perotti

This week's '21 Things You Might Not Know About Me' features Helen Perotti.

  1. I am the Branch Manager at Bank Mutual in Spooner. Bank Mutual just celebrated its’ 125th birthday this summer and of course, we celebrated with cake!
  2. I was born and raised in Spooner and graduated in 1996 from Spooner High School. I moved away for awhile to the Duluth, MN area and moved back home in 2014 after my Father passed away.
  3. When I was younger I was mesmerized by Frank Lloyd Wright architecture. I had myself convinced that I wanted to pursue a career being an architect… until I realized how much schooling that entailed. I changed my mind.
  4. I won a “Best in Show” ribbon my senior year at the spring art show. The painting was of a mountain scene. The catch was you had to paint with a q-tip, with white paint, on a black piece of construction paper.
  5. I love cooking! This summer I have been making many meals with zucchini noodles, or “zoodles.” Makes perfect low-carb spaghetti.
  6. I love spaghetti. It is my absolute favorite food. I am Italian… so this may or may not have something to do with my love for spaghetti? I make a pretty mean Arrabbiata sauce if you like things spicy.
  7. I absolutely love petting zoos. Most recently I held a baby goat at the Renaissance Festival and it made my whole week!
  8. I say hello to cows when I drive past them. I like to think it makes them feel better.
  9. On warm summer evenings, I like to walk my dog downtown Spooner. It is peaceful and fun to window shop after working all day.
  10. I am severely allergic to Almonds. I often am asked if I am allergic to other tree nuts and my answer is, “I am not willing to try that out.” This allergy makes food shopping a hassle because they put almonds in everything these days!
  11. I have a small collection of Depression glass teacups with matching saucers. I only buy a new set if I don’t have that color yet.
  12. I love books! I once helped my 6th Grade Reading class win a pizza party by reading 103 books in that year. My teacher also gave me a pretty hardcover journal to record all the books I read… I still have it.
  13. My favorite movies are: Shawshank Redemption, Dirty Dancing, and The Wizard of Oz.
  14. I prefer to watch The Wizard of Oz alone because I can recite every single word along with the movie and I am pretty sure that can get annoying.
  15. I hate snakes. Hate them. If I see one on the television I close my eyes.
  16. Tree Frogs freak me out. They are stealthy and they are just randomly stuck to the side of things. It’s creepy.
  17. I am so happy with how Spooner has evolved since I was a child. Coming home after being in a large city for so long was hard, but over the past 3 years I have really come to appreciate all the changes that have taken place. The art scene is wonderful. The trails and outdoor activities have been developed so nicely. There are really good things happening here.
  18. I am the newest board member for the Washburn County Economic Development Corporation. I am excited to be involved in helping the business development for our communities.  It is so important to be a part of your community in any capacity and I feel passionate about helping to make this area flourish.
  19. My favorite job ever was working in a local greenhouse and nursery. I loved everything about it, even the dirt!
  20. My dog Bailey is my best friend… even when I have had a bad day he makes it all better.
  21. Coming up with 21 Things is much harder than I thought it would be. Thanks for reading!
