- Born to Michael and Suzanne on October 1, 1985, in Milwaukee, WI. I was the only Caucasian child in the hospital nursery. No need for a name on my bassinet as even my color blind father could pick me out of that crowd.
- Grew up in Fall Creek, WI (about 10 minutes east of Eau Claire). We lived on 40 acres that I would hunt whenever I got the chance. I still haven’t forgiven my parents for selling the house and moving into the city.
- Never made it to State in high school sports but between my junior and senior years, we lost the game to go to State in football, basketball, and baseball. The football loss still hurts, but no I don’t sit in my bedroom listening to Springsteen’s “Glory Days” and cry. It was a great experience.
- Originally went to college to become a police officer. When I graduated from CVTC in 2008 I decided (much like Forrest Gump) to just keep “going”. I graduated from Marquette University Law School in 2013.
- I am the oldest of 4 siblings. Phillip, Gabriella, and Katarina. They reside in Des Moines, IA, La Crosse, WI and Menomonie, WI, respectively.
- Married to Hilary who I met the old-fashioned way in 2014 (match.com). She is an emergency room nurse. When asked about ER vs. clinic setting said she likes the challenge and drama of the ER. That answer also explains her decision to marry me!
- We have 3 dogs, Eddie, Jordy, and Clay. If you know where those names came from you know that Sundays in the fall are sacred days in our home. Gosh, we love the Packers.
- I have been blessed (or cursed) with a great memory. I can name pretty much any song and the singer within the first couple notes. (except for classic rock- those songs only take 1 note)
- My favorite place in the world is our family cabin in Gordon, WI. My grandfather, dad, and uncles built it in 1977. Despite their lack of construction skills it still stands today. I’m convinced that anywhere north of Highway 8 is God’s Country and even said as much in my interview with DA Angela Beranek for a Barron County ADA position.
- When I graduated law school I either wanted to work in the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s Office or anywhere in Northern Wisconsin. I was lucky enough to start out in Barron County.
- My second favorite place in the world is in any airplane. My father is a private pilot and I grew up in Cessnas. I plan on getting my license soon, as well.
- My wife and I have a home in Cumberland, WI. I would live further north off the grid if I could. Cumberland was as far as I could get her. That being said we love the town and Northwoods in general.
- I am currently driving my dream car which is a Chevy Silverado. My wife drives a Toyota Prius. Our vehicles say a lot about us now that I think of it.
- I can’t fall asleep without some type of background music or video. Currently, I prefer YouTube documentaries on the Vietnam conflict. I’ve already been through all of the JFK ones. I think I’ve been to the end of the internet twice.
- I love restoring old things. I am currently working on a 1982 John Deere 210 and 1970’s Snark Sailboat.
- I am infatuated with the Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald (both the song and event)
- It’s been said that I have a $10,000 smile. Not because it looks nice, but because that’s how much it cost to put in 7 fake teeth. I wish it was due to something cool like a bar fight but no, simple genetics.
- I am a terrific procrastinator. This draft was due a few hours ago.
- I have a hard time writing about myself and really wish Ben would have just gone with 19 things.
- I am red-green color blind with 20/15 vision. Hell of a trade off.
- I’ve never met Ben Dryden in person but I consider him a friend and would trust him with my children.
