22-Year-Old Inmate Identified After Death at St. Croix County Jail

ST. CROIX COUNTY — A 22-year-old inmate has been identified following his death Saturday morning after being found unresponsive in the Huber dorm at the St. Croix County Jail, according to a press release from the St. Croix County Wisconsin Sheriff’s Office.

PRESS RELEASE

**UPDATE: The inmate has been identified as Ethan P. Tjader, from River Falls WI.**

At approximately 6:28 a.m. this morning, a 22-year-old male inmate was found unresponsive in the Huber dorm at the St. Croix County Jail.

St. Croix County Jail staff responded immediately and began life-saving measures. Lakeview EMS was also called to assist. Despite life-saving efforts, the inmate was pronounced dead inside the facility by the St. Croix County Medical Examiner.

Following any serious incident inside the St. Croix County Jail, including an inmate death, it is the policy of the St. Croix County Sheriff’s Office to request an outside law enforcement agency to conduct an independent investigation. The Dunn County Sheriff’s Office was notified and responded to the jail. That agency has assumed responsibility for the investigation.

At this time the name of the inmate is not being released.

Additional information will be released as appropriate and when it becomes available.
