$250K Cash Bond Ordered In Sawyer County On Charges Of Repeated 1st Degree Sexual Assault Of Child

SAWYER COUNTY -- A cash bond of $250,000 has been ordered for Jerry Stewart, of Durand, WI (formerly of Waukegan, IL), on charges that he repeatedly sexually assaulted a child over the span of at least two years while the child was age 10 or less.

A criminal complaint filed in Sawyer County Circuit Court charges Jerry Stewart, age 49, with sexually assaulting a child between the years of 2012 and 2014; allegedly beginning when the child was approximately 8 years old.

In October 2020, a forensic interview was conducted with the victim. During the interview, the victim described various situations in which Stewart sexually assaulted the victim between the ages of 8 and 10 on multiple occasions. The criminal complaint goes on with details of the assaults which DrydenWire has chosen to not include in this article due to the graphic nature.

Online circuit court records show that Stewart is charged with Class B Felony Repeated Sexual Assault of Same Child (At Least 3 Violations of 1st Degree Sexual Assault). An arrest warrant for Stewart was filed on November 6, 2020, at the same time that the criminal charges were filed.

Stewart appeared for a bail bond hearing in Sawyer County Circuit Court on November 13, 2020, and the Court ordered a cash bond of $250,000 cash with conditions that Stewart have no contact with the victim in the case.

An initial appearance is scheduled for Stewart in December 2020 regarding the criminal charges.

Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
