(Washburn County Sheriff's Office Release) On Friday evening October 14th, approx 05:30 PM, Washburn County Sheriff's 911 received a call from a residence in the Township of Stone Lake. The caller stated she came home and found three unidentified people in her home and she was threatened by one suspect with a baseball bat.
All available Washburn County Deputies responded along with the Sheriff, Chief Deputy and Trooper Tim Smith of the WSP [Wisconsin State Patrol].
Washburn County K-9 tracked the individuals from the home to an area where a vehicle was apparently left, some distance from the home. It was determined that the three suspects all described as Native American, one male and two females, left the area in this vehicle. The home was entered by forced entry through a locked door in the rear of the home.
Our investigation continues.
"As home owners, renters or what ever the case may be, in this day and age, we should always be alert to our surroundings when returning home. If you suspect something is wrong, do not enter the house, back out and call us, we will check it out for you."
