Barron County Squad Involved in 3-Vehicle Accident

On Friday morning, October 6, 2017, at 8:04 a.m., the Barron County Sheriff’s Department was advised of a 3-vehicle accident on Hwy 8 at 20th St just south of Cameron involving a Barron County squad.

Deputies from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department, along with the two Lakeview Medical Center ambulances, Cameron Fire Department and the Cameron Police Department responded to the scene.

Initial investigation shows a Chevy Cobalt traveling north on 20th driven by Ricky Howard, 58 of Chetek, failed to stop for the stop sign at Hwy 8 and failed to stop for the median stop sign at this same intersection and was struck by the Barron County Sheriff’s squad driven by Deputy Dave Kuffel of Rice Lake.

A car stopped in the southbound lane at 20th on the north side of Hwy 8, was stuck when the Chevy Cobalt spun after impact with the Barron County squad. That car was driven by Noah Anderson of Cameron, and had a passenger, Erik Damrell of Cameron. These two subjects were not transported for injuries.

Deputy Kuffel was transported to Lakeview Medical Center for his injuries and Ricky Howard was extricated from his vehicle and transported to Mayo Hospital. Injuries are not known at this time on these subjects.

The crash is being handled by the Cameron Police Department.
