33-Year-Old Clear Lake Woman Shot After Leaving Deer Stand: Authorities

POLK COUNTY -- A 33-year-old female was shot shortly after exiting her deer stand by a 17-year-old male who was hunting on adjacent property, according to a press release from the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

(Press Release) -- On Sunday, September 30, 2018, at approximately 7:15 pm, a rural Clear lake woman age 33, was hunting on her parent’s property in Clear Lake Township, Polk County, WI.  As the woman was leaving her deer stand, she walked into a field and was shot with a firearm by a 17 year old male of rural Star Prairie, WI. The 17 year old male was hunting on adjacent property.

The victim was transported by ambulance to Amery Medical Center, and later transferred to Regions Hospital in MN.  The victim is in critical, but stable condition.

The matter is being actively investigated by the Polk County Sheriff’s Department and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources.
