SHELL LAKE, WI -- WashCo Leadership Adventure is for youth grades 6th through 12th and is currently accepting registrations. The Adventure will take place August 6-9 at Luther Point Summer Camp in Grantsburg. This event allows youth to gain new skills as well as utilizing their current strengths. This year’s theme is “Explore the Northwoods.”
The Adventure is designed as a 4-day conference complete with keynote speakers, breakout sessions, skill building workshops, and networking opportunities. The Adventure will also include community building activities combined with outdoor recreation options like swimming, kayaking, fishing and tie-dying. The Adventure will have something for everyone and youth will have the opportunity to select what groups they engage in.
One keynote speaker is Dr. Earl Suttle. He is an entertaining keynote speaker who inspires and motivates his audiences. He says “The trick is not only to excel at each and every thing you do, but to enjoy it in the process.” Dr. Suttle has dedicated his career to motivating business leaders; student and professional athletes; and government, healthcare, education, and community leaders.
Returning from last year, Mike McGowan is the other keynote speaker. One of the Adventure participants, after hearing Mike last year, told us that Mike was one of the best speakers he had ever heard because he felt like he truly understood youth. The foundation of his presentation always comes back to the importance of how we treat one another and the power it has to dictate our present and future. McGowan works with schools, companies, parent groups, and students as a trainer, consultant and motivational speaker.
More information is available at healthywashco.org or on the Facebook page: WashCoPrevention. The Adventure is offered at no cost to participants. It is funded by HHSD Washburn County Prevention.
