Press Release

Quarantine Stops Spread

Another case of COVID-19 has been confirmed in Barron County. This is Barron County’s sixth positive test. The new case had been in close contact with a person who tested positive. The individual was contacted by Public Health to let them know they had been exposed. Since then, they have remained home and stayed away from other members of the household.  All members of the home are currently in quarantine.

“This person did everything right and because of it, we don’t expect any further spread from them,” said Laura Sauve, Health Officer for Barron County. “Staying home and away from others as soon as you start to feel sick is so important right now.”

Barron County currently has two recovered and four positive cases of COVID-19. There have been 369 negative tests. The two recovered cases have been released from isolation. They no longer pose a risk for spreading the illness.

Physical distancing is the only defense against this virus. It is important that residents continue to stay home as much as possible. If you must go out stay at least six feet apart from other people and wash your hands often. If you are in a place where it is difficult to keep six feet apart from others, consider wearing a cloth face covering.

If you have questions about COVID-19, call 2-1-1 or text COVID-19 to 211-211. For up-to-date information, please follow Barron County Public Health’s Facebook page or check the DHS website for updates.
