RICE LAKE, WISCONSIN — Northwood Technical College has been named a 2025 Gold Vets Ready Employer by the Wisconsin Department of Workforce Development (DWD). The college is one of 25 employers across the state honored this year for strong support of veterans, service members and military families.
The Vets Ready Employer Initiative recognizes organizations that hire veterans, connect with the veteran community and provide resources that help military members move into civilian careers. These can include peer mentorship, flexible leave options and wellness programs that support veterans at work and in school.
“Earning the Gold Vets Ready Employer designation shows our strong commitment to supporting veterans throughout their journey at Northwood Tech,” said John Will, president of Northwood Tech. “Whether they join us as employees or as students preparing for their next career, we work to ensure they have access to the resources, guidance and opportunities they need to succeed. Veterans bring incredible skills and experience, and we are proud to create an environment where they can thrive.”
The award is managed by the DWD Office of Veteran Employment Services with support from state and national veteran organizations. Award winners are featured on the DWD website, receive a Vets Ready icon on JobCenterofWisconsin.com and are given an official emblem and certificate.
“Many veterans and military-connected students come to us during a time of transition,” said Stephanie Smith, veteran services coordinator at Northwood Tech. “Our goal is for them is to feel confident and cared for throughout their time here, and to make sure they have the resources and support they need."
By prioritizing meaningful resources and support, Northwood Tech continues to help veterans build strong futures—for themselves, their families and the communities they choose to call home.
