Dear Washburn County Resident,
For this election I have submitted a series of 7 articles to DrydenWire.com, completed voter profiles for the League of Women Voters at vote411.org and the Wisconsin Justice Initiative at wjiinc.org for your consideration. My final submission of this election is this heartfelt letter to you – the Voter.
I usually start my speeches with “I am an attorney that cannot stand lawyers and a politician that can’t stand politics.” While this was intended to break the ice with humor, it is also true. Although it is what politics seems to have become, I do not feel a need to “sell” myself to you. I only desire for you to get to know me better because I believe that if you do, you will clearly see why I provide a different option.
To be called a “good politician” would be an insult. Misrepresentation, political spin, and digitally enhanced advertisements are nothing but lies. Lies are what are used to kill, steal and destroy. That is why I am only interested in the truth, in its simplest and most direct form.
I want you to know that what I have said during this campaign is the truth, it is not rhetoric. I meant every single word. I would not be running if I did not want to serve our community as judge, so of course I hope this is my time. Being a servant leader is in my heart. But it is much more important that I remain the same person after the election as I was before it. I will not compromise my integrity for a job title.
When I wake up on April 8, 2026 I am determined to still be a disciple, husband, father (x6), son, brother et cetera. Being Judge or District Attorney, does not even break the top 10 list of what defines me. This is why I am so focused on expressing my heartfelt belief that the power and authority of the court belongs to the people, not the person sitting on the bench. That authority is entrusted to the Judge. I am not seeking the authority of the bench; I am seeking your trust to use that authority to help cultivate a better community for us all.
This is why: I thankfully look back on the people before me that made it possible for a first generation college student in 1998 to be running for Judge in 2026. But I look forward with concern. We are now at a place where the next generation will most likely be worse off than the generation before it. I would not believe it if I did not see the reality of it in the justice system every day. To put is simply: we cannot continue to accept the status quo of abused authority. It is ruining us.

This is what I have been dedicated to avoiding my entire adult life: leaving the world worse for our children, our grandchildren, than how I found it. This is why I serve on substance misuse and public health coalitions. This is why I lead local nonprofit organizations. This is why I coach our youth. It has always been one mission and it will always be one mission: Leaving this world better than how I found it.
Lastly, I want to say thank you for welcoming me home as District Attorney. Thank you for treating Liz, the kids and I like family. Thank you for trusting me to coach your children and letting me be a part of their lives. I grew up by Long Lake, now live in Shell Lake and I am proud to call Washburn County home.
I thank you for your consideration and respectfully ask for your vote for Washburn County Circuit Court Judge on April 7, 2026.
Sincerely,
Aaron Marcoux
