A judge’s role is to apply the law fairly and impartially. But the best judges also understand the people they serve. That understanding does not come simply from reading statutes or sitting behind a bench. It comes from years of working alongside neighbors, organizations, and local leaders to strengthen the place we call home.
Serving the community is one of my core values. Through nonprofit leadership, youth coaching, and collaboration with community coalitions, I have had the privilege of working directly with the people and organizations that help make Washburn County strong.
Building a Better Tomorrow
I currently serve as a board member of the University of Wisconsin–Eau Claire Barron County Foundation (formerly UW-Barron County). The foundation raises scholarship funds to support students pursuing higher education.
My work on the Foundation is close to my heart. I was the first in my family to attend college. I know what it means to work hard for an education, and I also know I would not be where I am today without the scholarships I received while attending UW-Barron County.
Scholarship fundraising is about more than supporting education. It is about investing in the future of our county. Today’s students will become tomorrow’s teachers, nurses, business owners, and public servants.
I have also spent more than a decade coaching youth sports, including baseball, basketball, and football. During that time, I have coached more than 40 teams and worked with hundreds of young athletes.
Coaching youth sports is about much more than wins and losses. It is about teaching lifelong lessons like teamwork, accountability, discipline, and respect. Those are the same values that strengthen both our community and our justice system.
Overcoming Obstacles
I also serve as President of Community First Washburn County, a nonprofit organization that brings together human service agencies, coalitions, organizations, and individuals to address important local issues.
Community First focuses on challenges such as food insecurity, access to hygiene resources, and other barriers facing families across our county.
Recently, we organized the Washburn County Community Stakeholder Summit. The event brought together agencies, organizations, and community leaders to discuss local challenges and identify solutions that require cooperation across multiple groups.

Efforts like these demonstrate the power of collaboration and the importance of listening to different perspectives.
These experiences are valuable for anyone serving in public office, including judges. Courts often see the consequences of community challenges such as family struggles, addiction, financial hardship, and conflict. A judge who understands these broader realities can better appreciate the real world impact of decisions made in the courtroom.
Stronger Together
Substance misuse continues to affect families across Washburn County, Wisconsin, and the nation. Addressing these issues requires cooperation between healthcare providers, law enforcement, community organizations, and local leaders.
I have served on coalitions working to address substance misuse in our region, including the Northwoods Coalition, the largest and oldest network of coalitions dedicated to substance use prevention in Wisconsin.
Through this work, we helped launch the kNOw Meth Initiative, a statewide campaign focused on raising awareness about the dangers of methamphetamine. The initiative culminated in a multiday summit sponsored by the Wisconsin Department of Justice.
I am also involved with the Washburn County Community Health Implementation Plan Substance Misuse Strategy Focus Group. This group works to implement strategies addressing important public health priorities, including the ongoing opioid epidemic affecting Washburn County.
The Court Is Part of Our Community, Not Apart From It
Being directly involved in the issues facing our county has allowed me to see firsthand how people can come together to confront difficult challenges.
Ultimately, the work of a judge centers on fairness, accountability, and respect for the law. Those principles are strengthened when judges have a deep understanding of the people and communities they serve.
Years of service in nonprofit leadership, youth mentorship, and community collaboration have reinforced a simple belief: strong communities depend on individuals who are willing to step forward and serve.
I am committed to bringing that same spirit of service, fairness, and respect for the law to the bench. I respectfully ask for your vote for Washburn County Circuit Court Judge on April 7, 2026.
