SAWYER COUNTY — A Sawyer County Jail inmate who was already being held on felony charges involving allegations of child sexual assault, child abuse, and strangulation is now facing additional charges after authorities say he assaulted another inmate during a dispute inside the jail.
Authorities say the altercation escalated from a dispute in a jail dormitory between Antonio Bessel (21) and another inmate over control of a television into a physical assault that was captured on surveillance video and resulted in injuries requiring medical evaluation. Bessel is due back in Sawyer County Circuit Court in August 2026.
