SPOONER, WI – March 16, 2026 – Anchor Campgrounds, a family-friendly campground in Northwestern Wisconsin, is proud to announce its first-ever Hero Weekend, taking place from May 15-17, 2026.
The event, sponsored by the Wisconsin Association of Campground Owners, WACO, will honor law enforcement officers and armed services veterans with two nights of free camping.
In addition to the free camping, Anchor Campgrounds will host a special happy hour at its on-site bar, the Red, White and Brew. On Saturday, May 16, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM, all law enforcement and veterans will receive their first drink free.
“We are incredibly grateful for the service and sacrifice of our law enforcement officers and veterans,” said Mike Friday, owner of Anchor Campgrounds. “This Hero Weekend is a small way for us to show our appreciation and give back to those who have given so much for our country and our communities.” Law enforcement officers and veterans should call the office to take advantage of the free camping weekend.
Anchor Campgrounds offers a unique camping experience with two distinct areas: Anchor Bay, located on the water, and Anchor Woods, a quieter, more secluded area with direct access to ATV/UTV trails, both directly across from one another.
The campground offers a variety of accommodations, including RV sites, tent camping, and cabins, with both overnight and seasonal campers.
