NWS -- A second winter storm is expected to hit the Northland this weekend. Unlike the first storm, this one will be longer lasting and high snowfall totals look to be more widespread.
Strong northeasterly winds will bring lake-enhanced snowfall to the North Shore, in addition to winds gusting as high as 40 mph and creating the potential for some lakeshore flooding.
Most areas will see around 6-12” of snow with less along the International Border and isolated amounts approaching 18” along the North Shore.
Snow will begin falling Friday night and will fall the heaviest Saturday and Saturday night before tapering off on Sunday.
Holiday travel will be impacted especially Saturday night.
Travel will likely be dangerous to nearly impossible across the region.
