BARRON COUNTY, WI — An armed subject was taken into custody Friday after authorities received reports that the individual was walking along County Road F with a rifle and later made threats toward the Prairie Farm School, according to a press release from the Barron County Sheriff’s Department.

On Friday May 15th, 2026 the Barron County Sheriff's Department received multiple reports of a subject walking northbound on County Road F from the Dunn County line who was armed with a rifle. As a result of this information the Prairie Farm School was placed into lock down.

Dispatch later received information about this subject being suicidal and making threats towards the Prairie Farm School.

Deputies made contact with the subject and took him into custody without incident.

This case remains under investigation by the Barron County Sheriff's Department.
