POLK COUNTY (DrydenWire) - An investigation into a late-night fire that destroyed a Balsam Lake rental home in December 2024 led to a felony arson charge being filed, and the case is now scheduled for a plea.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Polk County, investigators quickly labeled the blaze suspicious after finding vehicle and foot tracks near the residence and reviewing security footage showing a white pickup truck pulling into the driveway shortly before the fire was discovered.
The case ultimately centered on 28-year-old Ashley Monn, of Milltown, WI, who allegedly admitted to being at the property that night. Ashley left the State of Wisconsin while the investigation was ongoing, and was arrested in Florida before being extradited back to Wisconsin for prosecution.
