Assistant District Attorney John O'Boyle To Retire After Nearly A Decade In Barron County

BARRON COUNTY — Assistant District Attorney John O'Boyle will retire on May 2, 2025, after nearly a decade of service in Barron County and a distinguished career in prosecution spanning over 30 years, according to a press release from the Barron County District Attorney’s Office.

Assistant District Attorney John O'Boyle will be retiring on May 2, 2025. Mr. O'Boyle joined the Barron County District Attorney's office in January 2016. Prior to joining the Barron County District Attorney's office, Mr. O'Boyle was the elected district attorney in Pierce County for 20 years. Mr. O'Boyle is a graduate of the William Mitchell College of Law.

In the almost 9 ½ years that Mr. O'Boyle has worked as an assistant district attorney in Barron County, he has prosecuted felony level cases ranging from possession of controlled substances to first degree intentional homicide. "Mr. O'Boyle has distinguished himself time and time again as being an exceptional trial attorney and advocate for the pursuit of justice."

Mr. O'Boyle's position will be filled with the hiring of Holly Rockow. Ms. Rockow graduated from Mitchell Hamline School of Law in 2017. Ms. Rockow is an experienced prosecutor. She will be leaving the Burnett County District Attorney's office to join the Barron County District Attorney's office. Ms. Rockow's start date will be May 5, 2025.
