WASHBURN COUNTY — On March 12, 2026, employees of the Spooner, WI, Indianhead Credit Union became suspicious when a woman presented a US Passport Card that appeared to belong to another account holder. The woman requested to withdraw funds, but left when she was asked to provide another form of ID.
Investigators later connected the suspect’s vehicle to Wisconsin and Minnesota fraud alerts involving similar attempts to access victims’ bank accounts using fake U.S. passport cards.
The investigation identified the suspect as Summer Margaret Butryman, of Connecticut (a.k.a. Summer-Leigh Witham; Summer Stassola). A warrant for her arrest is filed along with felony charges.
