POLK COUNTY -- Authorities in Polk County have released the name of the person involved in Saturday’s single-vehicle crash, according to a news release.

The Wisconsin State Patrol says that the driver has been identified as Christina Hatella, 42, from Chippewa Falls. Her injuries are considered life-threatening and enforcement action is “pending investigation,” according to the news release.

POLK COUNTY -- A single-vehicle crash near Balsam Lake has resulted in the hospitalization of the driver. Alcohol and speed are believed to be factors in the crash, according to the Wisconsin State Patrol.

In a news release, the Wisconsin State Patrol says that at 11:15a today, Saturday January 09, 2021, a crash occurred on County Highway E at 155th Ave in Polk County near Balsam Lake. The crash involved 1 injury.

According to the news release, the Wisconsin State Patrol responded to the single-vehicle crash on County Highway E north of 155th Ave, east of Balsam Lake. A vehicle traveling northbound failed to negotiate a curve and left the roadway, striking a tree and other structures.

The driver was transported by ambulance to an area hospital.

Speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors, according to the news release, and the crash remains under investigation by the WI State Patrol.

Assisting agencies included Polk County Sheriff’s Department, Amery EMS, and Range Fire Department.
