Barron Man Indicted in Federal Court on Meth Charges

According to a press release from the Wisconsin Department of Justice, Daniel Swessel, of Barron, WI, was indicted today, December 6, 2017, in Federal Court for 2 charges of possessing methamphetamine with intent to distribute.

The federal indictment alleges that Swessel possessed methamphetamine on September 1 and October 11, 2017, and further alleges that on October 11, he possessed 50 grams or more of the drug.

If convicted, Swessel faces a maximum penalty of 20 years in federal prison on count 1, and a mandatory minimum penalty of five years and a maximum of 40 years on count 2.  

The charges against him are the result of an investigation by the Barron County Sheriff’s Office.  The prosecution of this case is being handled by Assistant U.S. Attorney Aaron Wegner.

DrydenWire.com reported on November 10, 2017, that Swessel had appeared in Barron County Circuit Court regarding circuit court charges filed against him for one count of Class C Felony Possess w/Intent-Amphetamine (>50g), and two counts of Misdemeanor Possess Drug Paraphernalia.

Those charges stemmed from a search warrant which was served on 32 E Division Avenue in the City of Barron, WI. A nationwide arrest warrant had been issued for Swessel on October 23, 2017, after the search warrant was served on the residence at 32 E Division Avenue.

A total of 4 open criminal cases against Swessel in Barron County Circuit Court are listed with online circuit court records. On July 6, 2017, a case was filed against Swessel charging him with Class H Felony False Imprisonment, Misdemeanor Battery, Misdemeanor Intimidate Victim/Dissuade Reporting, Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Another criminal complaint was filed against Swessel on July 24, 2017, charging him with Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine and Class H Felony Bail Jump.

According to online circuit court records a third criminal complaint was filed against Swessel on September 5, 2017 containing charges of Class C Felony Possess w/Intent - Amphetamine, 2 counts of Class H Felony Bail Jump, 3 counts of Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, and 1 count of 1st Offense Operating While Intoxicated (OWI). The fourth criminal complaint filed against Swessel on October 19, 2017, charges him with Class C Felony Possess w/Intent - Amphetamine and 2 counts of Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.

A nationwide arrest warrant has resulted in the arrest of a man wanted by the Barron County Sheriff's Office.

Online circuit court records show that Daniel Swessel appeared in Barron County Circuit Court on November 8, 2017. Swessel is charged with one count of Class C Felony Possess w/Intent-Amphetamine (>50g), and two counts of Misdemeanor Possess Drug Paraphernalia following a search warrant which was served on 32 E Division Avenue in the City of Barron, WI. 7 ounces of methamphetamine were found during the search warrant according to a press release issued by the Barron County Sheriff's Office.

DrydenWire.com reported on October 27, 2017, that a nationwide arrest warrant had been issued for Swessel.

On November 8, 2017, Swessel appeared in Barron County Circuit Court while in custody. The warrant for his arrest was quashed by the Court and Swessel was placed on a $2,500 cash bond.

It is believed that at this time, Swessel remains in the custody of the Barron County Sheriff's Office. He is scheduled to appear again later this month regarding his criminal charges.

An arrest warrant has been issued in Barron County Circuit Court for a man who is wanted by the Barron County Sheriff's Department.

Online circuit court records show that on October 23, 2017, an arrest warrant was issued for Daniel J. Swessel and a criminal complaint has been filed charging Swessel with one count of Class C Felony Possess w/Intent-Amphetamine (>50g), and two counts of Misdemeanor Possess Drug Paraphernalia.

A press release issued by the Barron County Sheriff's Department on October 13, 2017, stated that Swessel was wanted in connection with a search warrant which was served on 32 E Division Avenue in the City of Barron, WI.

According to the press release, 7 ounces of methamphetamine were located during the execution of the search warrant. The street value of the methamphetamine was estimated at $19,500.

On October 11, 2017, the Barron County Sheriff’s Department along with the Barron Police Department served a search warrant at 32 E Division Avenue in the City of Barron.

Located during this search warrant were seven ounces of methamphetamine with a street value of $19,500. The suspect in this case is Dan Swessel, 33 of this address.

Anyone with information regarding his location is asked to call 911 or the Barron County Sheriff’s Department at 715-537-3106.
