Barron Woman Sentenced In Rusk County On 5th OWI Charge

RUSK COUNTY -- A Barron, WI woman has been sentenced on multiple criminal cases, including charges of 5th offense OWI.

DrydenWire.com reported on August 28, 2017, that Jessica Fisher, then of Rice Lake, WI, had been arrested for 5th Offense OWI.

According to a release from the Wisconsin State Patrol the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call that a black Monte Carlo was traveling eastbound on U.S. Highway 8 between Weyerhaeuser and Bruce at a high rate of speed and swerving over the centerline. A WI State Trooper located the vehicle on U.S. Highway 8 east of Bruce, observed it cross the centerline and conducted a traffic stop on it.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as Jessica Fisher, and she was arrested for OWI 5th Offense. Charges of Class G Felony OWI 5th Offense, Class G Felony Operating With Prohibited Alcohol Concentration 5th Offense, and Misdemeanor Ignition Interlock Device Tampering/Failure to Install were filed against Fisher.

Fisher recently appeared for a sentencing hearing regarding this case as well as 2 other separate criminal cases filed against her in Rusk County Circuit Court.

The Court accepted Fisher’s plea of No Contest to her charges of Operating While Intoxicated 5th Offense, and two charges of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping. The remaining charges filed against her were dismissed but read in.

Online circuit court records show that the Court ordered a withheld sentence with 6 months of conditional jail time and 36 months of probation for the conviction of 5th OWI. Conditions of her probation will require Fisher to complete an Alcohol and Other Drug Assessment and any follow up recommended. Fisher was also ordered to maintain absolute sobriety.

For the convictions of Misdemeanor Bail Jumping, the Court ordered 24 months of probation.
