Authorities apprehended a suspect in Solon Springs following a 3-hour manhunt, according to a press release from the Douglas County Sheriff's Office.
(Press Release) -- A 42 yr old Solon Springs man was arrested Friday afternoon after a three hour manhunt. Ryan Little will be facing charges of Burglary and Theft, among others, for the incident which began at 11:32am.
Deputies were dispatched to a residential burglary alarm on Old 11 Rd in Bennett township. While deputies were en route, a neighbor reported a Red Ford "dually" leaving the scene of the alarm. Deputy Andrea Dittbrender spotted the vehicle heading south on USH 53. The vehicle took evasive actions and Deputy Dittbrender lost sight of it in the Mertzig Pkwy area. It was located a short time later crashed at CTH A at 3rd Av.
The vehicle was running and the driver's door was open. Witnesses reported a male fled from the vehicle into the woods carrying a sack. The vehicle was found to have been reported stolen from downtown Superior during the early a.m. hours.
Deputy Brian Witt and K9 Talon initiated a track from the truck to the south. At 12:15pm, a resident on Baldwin Av reported a male jumped her fence and took a bicycle. Talon continued the track to that residence and found a sack containing clothing nearby.
At 2pm a resident on Hillside Drive reported seeing a male matching the description on a bicycle. As Deputies were conducting a door to door search of the Hillside Drive area, another resident noticed some jostling in his covered boat. Thinking he had a racoon in his boat, he grabbed a garden hose. When the "racoon" coughed, he alerted the deputies in the area instead.
Little was taken into custody without further incident at about 3:15pm.
Wisconsin State Patrol also assisted with this incident, as well as numerous Solon Springs Residents.
