Birchwood Man Arrested For 8th OWI Offense In Burnett County

BURNETT COUNTY — A Birchwood man was arrested for his eighth operating while intoxicated offense after a traffic stop near Hertel, according to a news release from the Wisconsin State Patrol.

NEWS RELEASE

Eric Edward Widiker, 53 years of age, from Birchwood has been arrested by the Wisconsin State Patrol Spooner Post for operating a motor vehicle under the influence, 8th offense.

On 10/11/2025, at approximately 8:16 pm, a Wisconsin State Patrol Trooper stopped a vehicle for speed on CTH-H north of Lake Church Rd in near Hertel.

The Trooper observed signs of impairment and a subsequent investigation, including standardized field sobriety tests was conducted.

The driver, Eric E. Widiker from Birchwood, WI, was arrested for operating a motor vehicle while under the influence of an intoxicant 8th offense.

Mr. Widiker was transported to a local hospital for an evidentiary test of his blood and then to the Burnett County Jail.

"Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty."
