RUSK COUNTY, WI — Authorities say a 29-year-old Stevens Point resident was found deceased in a wooded area after an abandoned vehicle was reported north of Ladysmith, according to a press release from the Rusk County Sheriff’s Office.

On Friday, April 3, 2026 the Rusk County Sheriffs Office was made aware of an abandoned vehicle on Lea Lake Rd north of Ladysmith. When deputies responded, they located the vehicle and learned the registered owner was from Stevens Point, WI.
A search of the wooded area was conducted and the registered owner of the vehicle, Jade Olson, 29 years old from Stevens Point, WI was found deceased.
At this time the Sheriff's Office does not believe there is any danger to the public and an autopsy will be conducted to determine cause of death.

The Rusk County Sheriff's Office was assisted by the Sawyer County Search and Rescue Team, the Stevens Point Police Department and the Rusk County Medical Examiner's Office.
