SPOONER, WI -- Healthy Living with Diabetes teaches you ways to manage diabetes through a variety of researched and proven techniques. This workshop is just for men, and it compliments existing treatment programs by building skills like incorporating healthy eating and physical activity into daily life. The workshop also covers ways to manage stress and fatigue, monitor blood sugar, and how to develop better ways to problem-solve and communicate about your diabetic condition with doctors and family members.
“This workshop is specifically focused on men’s health,” says Darby Smith, Supervisor, Aging and Disability Resource Center of Barron, Rusk and Washburn Counties, Spooner location. “Participants in this workshop will come away with practical skills to improve how they manage their diabetes.”
Adult men with type 2 diabetes and pre-diabetes and those living with someone who has diabetes are invited to attend. This workshop meets weekly from 6:00 p.m.―8:30 p.m. for 6 weeks, starting May 2nd at the United Methodist Church, 312 Elm St, Spooner, WI. The two workshop leaders will be men with personal experience managing their own diabetes. Registration is required. Suggested donation $10.
