WASHBURN COUNTY (DrydenWire) - Authorities say a burglary call in Spooner, WI, escalated into a high-speed chase and foot pursuit that ended with the arrest of a Minnesota probation absconder who allegedly swallowed fentanyl as officers closed in.

According to a criminal complaint obtained by DrydenWire, deputies and police arrested 30-year-old Caleb Shuman, of New Richmond, WI, after he fled the scene of the alleged burglary in a black sedan reaching speeds of 100 mph, nearly causing multiple head-on collisions, before jumping from the moving vehicle and fleeing on foot into nearby woods.

DrydenWire did not locate information regarding the second suspect described by the 911 caller; however, Shuman now faces multiple felony charges in Washburn County.
