One In Custody Following Report Of Hostage Situation In Danbury

BURNETT COUNTY — A juvenile suspect is in custody after authorities responded to a 911 call involving a hostage situation in Danbury this morning, according to a press release from the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office.

On 6-23-20, at approximately 4:00 am, Burnett County Dispatch received a 911 call involving a hostage situation in Danbury, WI.

The juvenile suspect threatened the use of a gun on a passerby who stopped to see if the juvenile needed help. The suspect then took over the vehicle and threatened to shoot the vehicle owner and law enforcement.

The vehicle moved locations several times as a perimeter was established.

The vehicle eventually stopped and the suspect was taken into custody without incident. Nobody was harmed in this event.

This investigation is ongoing and the identity of the juvenile will not be released.



The Burnett County Emergency Response Team, Wisconsin State Patrol, Saint Croix Tribal Police Department, Siren Police Department, Grantsburg Police Department and North Memorial Ambulance were all utilized for a safe outcome.
