UPDATE: Name Released of Victim in One-Car Rollover Accident

The Burnett County Sentinel reported today, Friday morning, March 17, that the Burnett County Sheriff’s Department has released the name of the victim in the one-car rollover accident.

Losing her life in the crash was Dawn Ellingson, 51, of Big Lake, Minn. The mishap occurred about 10:40 a.m. Wednesday, March 15 midway through the sweeping curve on State Road 48 where it intersects with County Road Y, about eight miles southeast of Grantsburg. Ms. Ellingson was alone in the car when the crash occurred. 


Press Release - Town of Trade Lake, Burnett County, WI - On Wednesday, March 15, 2017, the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office received a report of a motor vehicle crash on State Highway 48 near County Road Y.

Initial investigation of this incident indicates that a 2002 Ford Explorer was traveling westbound on State Highway 48 when the driver failed to negotiate a curve near County Road Y, left the roadway and overturned, striking a tree. The female driver, who was the lone occupant of the vehicle, was pronounced dead at the scene by the Burnett County Medical Examiner.

The identity of the victim is not being released at this time.

No further information will be released at this time; investigation and crash reconstruction continues by the Burnett County Sheriff’s Office.
