BURNETT COUNTY — After serving more than 200 families through two pop-up food distributions in July, the Burnett County Pop-Up Food Distribution Project will return with two additional events in August.
The strong turnout at the July events demonstrated both the need for accessible food assistance and the impact that local organizations, volunteers, and donors can make by working together.
Upcoming distributions include:
- Grantsburg: Tuesday, August 25, from 3–6 p.m. at Grantsburg Village Hall, 316 S. Brad St.
- Webster: Thursday, August 27, from 11 a.m.–12:30 p.m. at Jackson Fire Hall, 2599 County Road A.
The July turnout reflects a broader need across Burnett County, where 14% of residents experienced food insecurity in 2023—the seventh-highest rate in Wisconsin—and more than one in five children live in poverty. By holding pop-up distributions in different communities, the project brings food assistance closer to the families and residents who need it.
The distributions are made possible through the work of local volunteers, private donors, and partnerships with Family Pathways and the St. Croix Valley Food Bank.
The Burnett County Pop-Up Food Distribution Project brings volunteers and community organizations together to provide food assistance in communities throughout the county. Its goal is to meet immediate needs while making food support easier to access for Burnett County residents.
