Burnett County Sheriff Issues Statement On Latest Order From Governor Evers

BURNETT COUNTY -- Burnett County Sheriff Tracy Finch has issued the following statement on Governor Evers' latest Executive Order.

Statement

The new Governor’s order regarding businesses operating at 25% capacity and regulating gathering sizes goes into effect October 8th at 8 a.m. As the Sheriff of Burnett County, I again would like to remind everyone that you should take personal responsibility for your health. I am very concerned with the health and well-being of our community members, businesses and visitors.

Our department has been extremely busy responding to thefts, drug cases, burglaries, mental health issues and many other criminal cases. We do not have the time or the staff to respond directly to civil violations of this order. I want to make it clear that I am only speaking for my department.

Burnett County Public Health will be monitoring this situation as they have been monitoring the mask violations. Please utilize their reporting system of emailing maskinformation@burnettcounty.org or calling (715)349-2071, if you feel it is necessary. These avenues will be personally reviewed by Public Health and they may refer violations to the District Attorney if they feel it is prudent. The Burnett County Sheriff’s Office will continue to place priority to emergencies and criminal violations.

Thank you for your continued support. Be safe!
