Man Accidentally Shoots Himself at McFarland Cascade in Cameron

The Cameron Police Department issued the following press release today, March 26, 2018, regarding a man accidentally shooting himself at McFarland Cascade in Cameron, Wis.

Press Release -- On Saturday, March 24, 2018, at 9:18 PM Barron County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a report from a 33-year-old male caller reporting that he had accidentally shot himself in the leg. The caller was located at McFarland Cascade (1014 S. 1st Street, Cameron) manufacturing facility and inside the building. 

Cameron Police, Chetek Police, Barron Police, Cameron First Responders, and Lakeview Medical Center Paramedics were dispatched to the scene. The victim was transported via ambulance for treatment of his wounds. 

At this time the investigation does not support any mental health concerns or foul play related to the incident. Prior to the incident, the victim reports he had manipulated the slide action of a handgun and the weapon discharged striking him in the left leg. McFarland Cascade does have a workplace policy prohibiting possession of firearms while on their property.
