SAWYER COUNTY -- Criminal charges related to drug trafficking have been filed against a man and woman in Sawyer County following an investigation that spanned several months.
A criminal complaint has been filed against Christopher Boettcher of Hayward, WI, charging him with trafficking methamphetamine. Criminal charges have also been filed against Heather Grover who was residing at the same address.
On September 9, 2021, the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Department obtained a search warrant for Boettcher’s residence located on Ranger Station Road. The search warrant was based on information that had been collected during the course of an investigation that began in April 2021 into suspected drug trafficking out of the residence.
When law enforcement arrived at the residence to execute the search warrant, they located Boettcher and Grover, and both were taken into custody. While searching Boettcher’s person, law enforcement located a case holding two gem bags that contained several grams of methamphetamine.
Law enforcement also searched a red Cadillac vehicle belonging to Grover that was parked outside the residence and found vape cartridges containing marijuana, edible marijuana, and marijuana ‘joints’.
In the basement of the residence law enforcement located a ‘drug room’ which held a table for using and packaging drugs as well as equipment to manufacture glass smoking devices. Law enforcement also found a mirror with a ½ gram of methamphetamine set out in a line for snorting; a Ruger handgun with a loaded magazine inside; a digital scale with methamphetamine residue on it; over 700 grams of marijuana; more than 30 vape cartridges containing THC; numerous items of paraphernalia for using both methamphetamine and marijuana; edible THC and THC wax; and multiple gem bags which matched the gem bags found on Boettcher’s person.
Inside Grover’s basement bedroom law enforcement found numerous drug-related items including a digital scale; a weighing cup with methamphetamine residue inside; a few dozen gem bags; and glass smoking devices.
Boettcher is charged with Class E Felony Possession with Intent to Deliver Methamphetamine; Class H Felony Possession with Intent to Deliver THC (>200-1000G); Class I Felony Maintain a Drug Trafficking Place; Class G Felony Possession of a Firearm by a Felon; and Misdemeanor Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. According to the criminal complaint filed against Boettcher he has previously been convicted of Class G Felony Manufacture/Deliver Psilocin(<=100g) and Class G Felony Possess w/Intent-THC(<=200 grams). Online circuit court records show that at a hearing on September 10, 2021, the Court placed Boettcher on a cash bond of $10,000 which was posted several days later. Boettcher is scheduled to appear again in October 2021.
Charges of Class I Felony Possession of THC (2nd + Offense) are filed against Grover. According to online circuit court records Grover was placed on a $5,000 signature bond by the Court at a hearing on September 10, 2021. She is also scheduled to appear again in October 2021.
A third individual was also located at the residence when the search warrant was executed, however, law enforcement determined that this individual was not a suspect in the alleged drug trafficking. DrydenWire did not locate any charges against this individual in online circuit court records regarding this incident, therefore their name is not included in this post.
Pursuant to the direction of the Wisconsin Supreme Court, as found in Supreme Court Rule 20:3.6, Trial Publicly, you are advised that a charge is merely an accusation and that a defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
