SHELL LAKE -- The charges of Class H Felony Battery or Threat to a Law Enforcement Officer and Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine filed against Blaine Skadsberg have been dismissed.

Skadsberg appeared in Washburn County Circuit Court on September 20, 2017 for a Final Pre-Trial hearing on his case which was scheduled to go to trial in October 2017.

Online circuit court records indicate that the charge filed against Skadsberg for Class H Felony Battery or Threat to a Law Enforcement Officer would be dismissed but read in for consideration in sentencing and that the charge of Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine filed against Skadsberg had been previously dismissed on May 23, 2016.

Skadsberg entered a plea of guilty on September 20, 2017, to his charge of Misdemeanor Resisting or Obstructing an Officer and was sentenced to 1 year of probation under the supervision of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections, Probation and Parole. 

The charges were filed against Skadsberg following an incident on May 3, 2016, when area law enforcement, including the Washburn County Sheriff's Office, Shell Lake Police Department, Spooner Police Department and the Washburn County Special Response Team, joined together in response to a call of a man allegedly endangering others with a gun. Although the incident could have ended tragically, officers brought it to a close relatively quickly without any major incident occurring.

It is not known to DrydenWire.com at this time what led to the dismissal of the serious charges filed against Skadsberg.

Jamie Baker, now of Birchwood, WI, was also involved in this incident, according to the initial reports released by law enforcement. Baker is charged with Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, and Misdemeanor Resisting or Obstructing an Officer. Baker is scheduled to have a jury trial on her charges on January 18, 2018.

SHELL LAKE -- A man charged with threatening Washburn County law enforcement with a gun is now set to have a jury trial this fall on his charges.

Blaine Skadsberg faces charges in Washburn County Circuit Court of threatening law enforcement with a gun. Public record indicates that Skadsberg appeared in Washburn County Circuit Court on August 21, 2017, and that a jury trial has been scheduled on his charges.

Skadberg's charges stem from an incident which occurred on May 3, 2016, when area law enforcement, including the Washburn County Sheriff's Office, Shell Lake Police Department, Spooner Police Department and the Washburn County Special Response Team, joined together in response to a call of a man endangering others with a gun. Although the incident could have ended tragically, officers brought it to a close relatively quickly without any major incident occurring.

DrydenWire reported in July of 2016 that Skadsberg was in the custody of the State of Minnesota on other charges and that his Washburn County case would be continued for future hearings.

Skadsberg is charged with Class H Felony Battery or Threat to a Law Enforcement Officer, Class I Felony Possession of Methamphetamine, and Misdemeanor Resisting or Obstructing an Officer.

Public record for Minnesota District Courts indicates that Skadsberg was convicted in March 2017 for 1^st Degree Possession of 25 grams or more of Cocaine/Heroin/Meth and that he has been sentenced to serve 74 months in Minnesota State Prison on that conviction.

Skadsberg appeared in Washburn County Circuit Court while in custody and is scheduled to have a jury trial on his charges on October 6, 2017.

In December of 2016, a warrant was issued for Baker's arrest due to failure to appear for a court hearing. According to public record, she appeared on March 14, 2017, when the Court placed her on a $1,000 cash bond. That cash bond was posted on May 22, 2017, and Baker remains out of custody and under conditions of bond at the time of this post.  Baker is scheduled to have a jury trial on her charges on January 18, 2018.
