RUSK COUNTY — A Bruce, WI, man is facing a felony charge after prosecutors allege he subjected a young child to years of repeated and unsubstantiated abuse claims, ultimately causing mental harm.
According to a criminal complaint filed in Rusk County Circuit Court, Peter Leikness (61) is accused of making persistent allegations of sexual and physical abuse involving a child in his care between 2022 and 2026, claims that were repeatedly investigated by law enforcement and medical professionals but found to be unsupported by evidence.
Authorities allege the pattern of reports, medical exams, and questioning led the child to develop fear, confusion, and distress, with a court-ordered therapist later describing the child as exhibiting behaviors consistent with being coached.
