Charly Ray Announces Bid For Wisconsin’s 25th Senate District

NORTHERN WISCONSIN – Charly Ray of Washburn, Wis., announces his candidacy for the 25th District Senate seat in the Wisconsin Legislature, offering a compelling vision for common-sense leadership within the Democratic party.

An outdoorsman, adventurer and forester by trade, Ray and his wife are small business owners, running an independent bookstore in Bayfield, Wisconsin.

A local leader, Ray lives in Bayfield County, serving 10 years as an elected town supervisor and six years on the Bayfield County Board. His well-rounded experience gives him a unique view on the environmental, business, and governmental challenges faced in northern Wisconsin.

“I am running because I believe in democracy and a government that works for regular people,” Ray said. “I believe in the American Dream of a prosperous future for all. We can do better in Wisconsin - much better - and I believe I am uniquely qualified to represent this region.”

Ray thinks Madison can, and should, do more when it comes to funding education, providing healthcare, protecting the environment, and listening to the needs of Wisconsin citizens, to make sure their needs are put before political agendas.

In listening to people throughout the district, Ray has heard how people are struggling with rising healthcare costs, increasing school taxes and are frustrated with a lack of common-sense local control when it comes to protecting their property and community values.

Ray’s vision for a better state government includes accepting Medicaid expansion to bring down costs for everyone, revising our school funding formula to lessen the burden on local taxpayers, and giving local governments a bigger say in land use decisions.

“We need elected officials who listen to their constituents and take their concerns to Madison,” Ray said. “I’m the person to make that happen.”
