Convicted Sex Offender William Baugh Being Relocated to Minnesota

WASHBURN COUNTY -- Convicted sex offender William Baugh is being relocated to Minnesota, according to a news release from the Washburn County Sheriff's Office.

(News Release) -- William Baugh as you know was released into Washburn County as a sex offender a few months ago. Initially released in the City Spooner and then out in the Township of Spooner.

Baugh is, as of the time of this posting, being relocated to Minnesota. He will be closer to family and resources that will hopefully lead to a life that is crime free.

If he does re-offend or does not follow the rules set forth by WI and MN Department of Corrections it is likely he will be returned to the Washburn County Jail.

WASHBURN COUNTY --  Effective today, October 9, 2018, William Baugh will be residing at W5602 Hwy 70 in the Township of Spooner, according to Washburn County Sheriff Terry Dryden.

"As most of you were aware Baugh was residing in Spooner. DOC has placed him at the address listed in this release. WASHBURN COUNTY -- Spooner Police Chief Jerry Christman announces the release of Baugh on September 4th 2018.

Baugh is a convicted Sex offender who has been identified as a person that may present a risk to reoffend. This is due to the fact that he has more than one sexual assault conviction. The Spooner Police Department is releasing the following information pursuant to sec. 301.46 (2) (a) of the Wisconsin Statutes which authorizes law enforcement agencies to inform the public of the release of a convicted sex offender when the release of such information will enhance public safety and protection.

DATE CASE NUMBER COUNTY STATUTE STATE OFFENSE

Baugh remains under the close supervision of the Wisconsin Department of Corrections. He will be restricted geographically by electronic monitoring equipment. In addition, there are numerous rules and restrictions compiled by the Department of Corrections, in which Mr. Baugh will be required to follow. Baugh will be homeless in Washburn County. Baugh’s homeless status is temporary and when Mr. Baugh finds permanent housing a community notification meeting will be held.
