SAWYER COUNTY (DrydenWire) - A second man has been sentenced in connection with a Sawyer County fentanyl trafficking case that began with a March 2025 traffic stop. Authorities say the stop led investigators to a Hayward residence where fentanyl, drug paraphernalia, and other controlled substances were seized, resulting in charges for both Johnny Ray Smith Jr., 44, and his father, Johnny Smith Sr., 66.
Smith Jr. was sentenced in June 2025 on a conviction for possessing fentanyl with intent, and Smith Sr. was sentenced during a recent court hearing in Sawyer County on his charges.
