SAWYER COUNTY -- Multiple criminal court cases have been filed against a 42-year-old St. Croix Falls man alleging that he committed acts of child sexual assault in Sawyer County and in Monroe County.

On October 14, 2021, two criminal complaints were filed in Sawyer County Circuit Court against Eric Wirth, age 42, of St. Croix Falls, WI. The criminal complaints allege that Wirth committed repeated acts of Child Sexual Assault between 2012 and 2014.

The alleged assaults occurred against more than one child victim. The child victims would have been under the age of 10 at the time the assaults began occurring, according to the criminal complaints, which contain details about the assaults that are too sexually graphic to include in this post.

The Sparta Police Department contacted the Sawyer County Sheriff’s Office on October 5, 2021, and advised detectives of information regarding the alleged child sexual assaults. The information had been disclosed to Detectives for the Sparta Police Department during the course of an investigation. Detectives received corroborating information regarding the alleged sexual assaults during police interviews and forensic interviews that were conducted with the victims.

Wirth appeared in Sawyer County Circuit Court on October 18, 2021, regarding his charges, and the Hon. John Yackel ordered a cash bond of $250,000. Conditions of the bond prohibit Wirth from having any contact with any juvenile. Online records indicate that Wirth remains in the custody of the Sawyer County Jail at the time of this post. Wirth is scheduled to appear again in Sawyer County Circuit Court in November 2021.

In September 2021, a criminal complaint was filed against Wirth in Monroe County Circuit Court charging him with Class C Felony Repeated Sexual Assault of Same Child (At Least 3 Violations of 1st or 2nd Degree Sexual Assault); Misdemeanor Sex with Child Age 16 or Older; Class C Felony Use a Computer to Facilitate a Child Sex Crime; Class H Felony Cause Child 13-18 to View Sexual Activity, with a penalty enhancer - Force Child to View Sexual Conduct; Class I Felony Expose Child to Harmful Material; and Misdemeanor Possession of Cocaine.

Wirth appeared on September 23, 2021, for a bond hearing regarding that case, and the Court placed him on a $2,500 cash bond, which was posted a few days later.

Wirth is also facing charges of Class H Felony Domestic Abuse False Imprisonment; and Misdemeanor Domestic Abuse Disorderly Conduct in a case filed against him on October 22, 2021, in Polk County Circuit Court. Details of that case are not known to DrydenWire, but online records indicate that the Polk County District Attorney’s Office has filed a proposed order for a detainer on Wirth to hold him in custody.
