Court Orders 60 Year Sentence On Child Sexual Assault Conviction

SAWYER COUNTY --A man has received a 60 year sentence on a conviction of 1st Degree Child Sexual Assault in Sawyer County Circuit Court.

DrydenWire.com reported on April 5, 2019 that a jury returned a Guilty verdict for Robert G. Johnson, of Rogers, MN on his charge of 1st Degree Child Sexual Assault.

Johnson was charged after Sawyer County Law Enforcement received information in May 2016 that a 6 year old female child had disclosed to her mother that Johnson had sexually assaulted her.

At a hearing on October 1, 2019, the Hon. John Yackel ordered Johnson to serve 60 years; 40 years initial confinement in state prison, followed by 20 years extended supervision. Johnson did receive credit for 1217 days already served as he has been in custody from June 1 2016 until October 1, 2019.

Johnson will be required to register as a sex offender for life.

Judge Yackel also ordered that Johnson participate in and successfully complete a Psychosexual Evaluation and any assessment, treatment or counseling, as recommended by the risk assessment and also complete all other programming as deemed appropriate by the supervising agent. In addition, Johnson is prohibited from having any contact with children under the age of 18. He must also maintain absolute sobriety and report any prescription medications to his agent within 24 hours.
