Court Sentences Former Shell Lake Man On Criminal Charges Including Sexual Assault

WASHBURN COUNTY — A former Shell Lake, WI man has been sentenced on numerous Washburn County Circuit Court criminal cases, including a case charging him with 2nd-degree Sexual Assault of a Child Under the Age of 16.

DrydenWire.com reported in April 2017 that charges had been filed against Tyler Milton, formerly of Shell Lake, WI following an investigation into a report that he had sexually assaulted a child under the age of 16.

In February 2018, DrydenWire.com reported that Milton was facing additional criminal charges including Class H Felony Attempt Escape-Criminal Arrest after an incident at the Washburn County Jail.

At a hearing in December 2018, Milton plead Guilty to one count of 2nd-degree Sexual Assault of a Child Under the Age of 16. In addition, Milton plead Guilty to three counts of Class H Felony Battery or Threat to Judge, Prosecutor, or Law Enforcement Officer filed in two separate cases.

Milton’s remaining charges filed against him in several other Washburn County criminal cases were dismissed but read in including a second charge of 2nd-degree Sexual Assault of a Child Under the Age of 16, Class I Felony Throw/Discharge Bodily Fluid at Public Safety Worker or Prosecutor, Class I Felony Interfere w/Fire Fighting-Alarm/Fighters, Class H Felony Battery by Prisoners, Class H Felony Attempt Escape-Criminal Arrest, Class I Felony Prisoner Throw/Expel Bodily Substances, Class H Felony Bail Jumping, Misdemeanor Criminal Damage to Property, Misdemeanor Theft, and Misdemeanor Disorderly Conduct.

At a sentencing hearing on July 24, 2019, the Court ordered a sentence of 10 years for Milton; concurrent on all his cases. Milton was ordered to serve 5 years initial confinement on his conviction for 2nd-degree Sexual Assault of a Child Under the Age of 16, followed by 5 years of extended supervision.

For Milton’s convictions of Class H Felony Battery or Threat to Judge, Prosecutor, or Law Enforcement Officer the Court ordered a sentence of 2 years initial confinement followed by 2 years of extended supervision.
